Right out of the gate, the base-level Lexus NX 300 has more standard horsepower than the Audi Q3. The 2020 NX 300 uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine to produce 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
The 2019 Audi Q3 also starts off with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, but only gets 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet out of it. This power stays the same as you move up trim levels.
Safety & Security
The 2020 Lexus NX comes with standard driver-assist features from the start. The entry trim level includes technologies such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and mitigation system, and lane departure warning and intervention system.
The 2019 Audi Q3 makes you work through the trim levels before you get access to all the driver-assist tech. The entry trim level includes a forward collision warning with an automatic emergency braking system. You'll have to pay extra for the rest.
Fuel Economy
If fuel economy is what you're looking for, take a look at the 2020 Lexus NX 300h, the hybridized version of the crossover. With its electric-gasoline system, you'll get up to a 31 combined mpg rating. Even without the hybrid system, you'll still get a 24 combined mpg rating.
The 2019 Audi Q3 doesn't offer a hybrid option. It gets a 21 combined mpg rating, which is worse than Audi's larger Q5 SUV, which gets a 24 combined mpg rating.
Warranty
The 2020 Lexus NX's basic warranty covers you for 48 months or 50,000 miles, but the Lexus NX has a powertrain warranty of 72 months or 70,000 miles.
The 2019 Audi Q3's basic warranty covers you for the same amount at the Lexus NX. But, its powertrain warranty only covers your system for the first 48 months or 50,000 miles.
Measurements
The 2020 Lexus NX has more room for you and your passengers to stretch out in. Let's take a look:
- Front legroom: 42.8 inches
- Rear legroom: 36.1 inches
- Front shoulder room: 57.3 inches
- Rear shoulder room: 55.3 inches
- Cargo capacity with seats folded: 54.6 cubic feet
The 2019 Audi Q3 falls a little short in these categories:
- Front legroom: 40.0 inches
- Rear legroom: 36.1 inches
- Front shoulder room 56.7 inches
- Rear shoulder room: 53.6 inches
- Cargo capacity with seats folded: 48.0 cubic feet
The obvious winner between these two crossover SUVs is the 2020 Lexus NX. It simply has more standard features, more power, and, in our opinion, superior style than the Audi Q3.
