From commuting in the city to long road trips, the 2020 Lexus LX and 2019 GMC Yukon are both equipped with advanced engines that deliver enough power for almost any driving situation. Nevertheless, the Lexus may be the winner in this department for the following reasons:
- More powerful base engine: The Lexus LX draws power from a 5.7-liter V-8 engine that's creates 383 horsepower, while the GMC Yukon's base 5.3-liter V-8 produces only 355 horsepower.
- Rear stabilizer bars: The Lexus comes standard with front and rear stabilizer bars that help it stay well-planted around corners. The Yukon doesn't have a rear stabilizer bar.
- Tighter turning diameter: If you're planning to use your new SUV for commuting in the city, the LX may be the better option because it's easier to maneuver in close quarters. It has a turning diameter of 38.7 feet, which is 0.3 foot smaller than that of the Yukon.
Measurements
Both the 2020 Lexus LX and 2019 GMC Yukon are large vehicles that provide plenty of space for their occupants. However, the Lexus offers additional advantages because of its smaller size and higher ground clearance.
- Smaller body: The Lexus LX is 200 inches long and 78 inches wide, while the GMC Yukon is 203.9 inches long and 80.5 inches wide. Its smaller body improves its maneuverability in tight spaces.
- Higher ground clearance: The LX may be a better off-road vehicle because it's minimum ground clearance is 1 inch higher than the Yukon's. As such, it's able to travel over rough terrain more easily while sustaining less damage.
Safety & Security
Brands like Lexus and GMC are known to make safe vehicles that come with solid construction and a wide array of safety features. If safety is one of your main concerns, then the 2020 Lexus LX may be a more suitable option.
- Available pre-collision front seat belts: The Lexus LX offers optional pre-collision front seat belts that automatically tighten when it detects an impending collision, which significantly improves protection against injuries. Pre-collision front seat belts are unavailable in the GMC Yukon.
- Standard panoramic-view camera: If you choose the LX, you'll get a standard panoramic-view camera that enables you to see vehicles and objects around the SUV, making it easier for you to avoid collisions. The Yukon doesn't offer this feature.
While the 2019 GMC Yukon is a solid choice, the 2020 Lexus LX's powerful engine and many additional convenience and safety features make is the better option. It also comes with more generous basic, corrosion, and powertrain warranties, which can substantially reduce your repair costs in the long run.
