  • Ride comfort: Cars like the Lexus NX and BMW X3 are expected to offer high levels of comfort, but the 2019 Lexus NX manages to better absorb the impacts caused by bumps in the road. The X3's Dynamic Handling feature improves the way it takes on corners, but there is a price to pay when it comes to ride smoothness.
  • Seat comfort: The 2019 BMW X3's seats are well-adjusted for long drives and offer a wide range of personalization options, therefore being a good fit for passengers of any size. The seats on the 2019 Lexus NX are similarly designed, with the addition of front-seat ventilation for enhanced comfort.
  • Noise and vibration insulation: The Lexus NX is supremely quiet, even by luxury car standards. The cabin's excellent insulation manages to eliminate most road, engine, and wind noises. The X3 offers good insulation from road noise and vibration, but high speeds cause some wind noise.
  • Cabin comfort: Every part of the 2019 Lexus NX's interior is smartly and efficiently designed to offer both comfort and functionality. The large door openings make it easy to get in and out, while forward visibility is excellent. The X3 has similar comfort levels, with everything inside working exactly as it should on a luxury SUV.
  • Infotainment technology: The 2019 BMW X3 mixes digital and analog gauges, which look great but take some getting used to. Smartphone connectivity is available via Bluetooth, USB Ports, and Android Auto. The 2019 Lexus NX is equipped with a Mark Levinson sound system, delivering excellent audio quality. Smartphone integration is easily achievable through Lexus' Enform app.

  • MSRP pricing range: The 2019 Lexus NX has a base manufacturer's suggested retail price that ranges between $36,485 and $40,125. The BMW X3's price, on the other hand, ranges from $41,000 to $54,650, meaning that the Lexus offers better overall value for money.

Safety & Security

  • Active safety systems: The 2019 Lexus NX is equipped with the Lexus Safety System+, which alerts the driver when there's a significant chance of a frontal collision and when the car deviates from its lane. The 2019 BMW X3 features an adaptive cruise control system that allows the car to adjust its speed to maintain a safe distance to the car in front.
  • Passive safety: The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration has awarded the maximum five-star rating for passive safety to the 2019 Lexus NX. The 2019 BMW X3, however, only received four stars.

Both the 2019 Lexus NX and the 2019 BMW X3 are representative models in the small luxury sedan segment. While the BMW is the slightly sportier car, the Lexus manages to reach higher standards when it comes to driver and passenger comfort, and is also viewed as the safer car by industry experts. If you're interested in getting a Lexus NX, don't hesitate to  schedule a test drive.
